15 October 2026 · Region · Difficulty 2 of 5

How it opened

I've carried empires on my waters and now connect a continent.

The five clues

  1. 01Once I marked where Rome's power ended, now I'm a thread stitching ten nations together.
  2. 02I flow southeast from a dark forest in the southwest, eventually meeting a sea of black.
  3. 03Four European capitals rise along my banks: one in Austria, one in Slovakia, one in Hungary, one in Serbia.
  4. 04At 2,850 kilometers, I'm the second-longest river on this continent, and my delta sprawls across Romania before my waters turn saline.
  5. 05I originate in Germany's Black Forest region and pass through or border Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, and Ukraine.
